Time's Long Echo

Fifty days. 5-0!

That's how many days I have to wait until my appointment at the PPD Clinic at the hospital. I want to cry. Almost 2 months seems forever. I've had horrible waits before (between ultrasounds to confirm miscarriage, the wait for medical all clear to try again after my D&C) but this, THIS, I don't know how to handle.

How do I hold out till March 9th? I don't know what I need right now but I'll take something, anything, to keep me from losing my mind.

Suggestions, a few well chosen curse words, a hell of a lot of chocolate? Help me out here, I'm at a loss...

Cursing and chocolate are great, but they don't get you into the doctor's any sooner. How about harassing the doctor's office for cancellations? Crying on the phone sometimes works. Or a visit to the emergency room, when you're feeling particularly anxious? Can you fake a panic attack (I'd prefer you didn't have a real one)? Maybe you could email all the doctors a link to your blog.

I know you can hold out, if you have to - you've done it this long. But, more chocolate is a good idea in any circumstance.

That's ridiculous! You would think they would understand the urgency in a situation like this. Any way your benefits cover some counselling instead?

That's unbelievable. For something like PPD....I'm speechless.

Is there anyone else you can see? Your OB?

Definitely be the squeaky wheel on this one.

Ugh, do you think your OB might be willing to prescribe something?

There are some herbal treatments for depression that might help. There is a good list here. I know people that have said St. John's Wort helped them a lot.

So, who can I beat up for you? Or harras on the phone? Send hate mail to? Maybe put on a difficult-to-get-off telemarketering list?

Seriously tho, I concur with all of the suggestions already made. You do what you have to to get some doctor's attention.

If PPD is supposed to be treated swiftly, how can they in good conscience make women wait months?

Is there any kind of emergency out, any way to bump up the list of things spiral out of control?
