Well I've finally developed a roll of film! Got some good stuff on it that I thought I'd share..

This first one is actually from a beach day I had with Sarah and Troy at Jericho.

Boy, do I have good news...

that is shaking away my depression...

Yesterday, after only 4 days, I was received an offer of peremanent employment...

Which I accepted!!!!!!! Were talking the full-meal-deal here. Benefits (health and welfare, dental), vacation and annual compensation reviews. I am SOOOOO happy.

So I guess, that with a "real" job, I am officially a part of the adult world. Weird...

In true Lindsay style...

I missed my alarm and was almost late for my first day of work! I had set my alarm for 6:30, which I checked twice before going to sleep. Meanwhile...

I went to bed with a headache that I couldn't seem to get rid of. Then I spent a restless night fighting to keep some of the sheets for myself. I woke up at like 5:30 or something and I had no sheet and only a small bit of the blanket covering me. I wasn't the only one having a restless night. Suffice to say that I never heard my alarm go off, but apparently Ryan said he vaguely heard it go off and that I turned it off (it was indeed switched off when I checked later). I woke up at 7:00 when Ryan's alarm went off! I freaked out, cursed and hurried to get ready for work... I had to be out of the house by 7:20 to make it to work on time. I felt rushed, tired and gross because I didn't have time for a shower. To top it off, I still had a headache. Well, at least I didn't smell...

Got to work after stopping for coffee and a muffin (my breakfast becuase I didn't have time for that either) and had the normal tour and introductions. Work was actually pretty good despite a rough start. It was quiet in the morning so I had a chance to get a feel for things. The afternoon was busier (especially the last hour and a half) because I got behind on a couple of things. Mostly it was becuase I'm just learning their procedures and also where the heck everything is stored. But it was a good day. Felt tired when I got home and I still have that headache but I think I know how to get rid of it... might have to bring out the superstrong essential oil blend I have for migraines.

As for the weekend, we had a good time on Canada Day. R and I went to Granville Island to take in the free Jazz festival shows going on there. WE saw some really great stuff and enjoyed ourselves. We then went for dinner at this really great restaurant on Granville Is. called the Sandbar. The service was exceptional and the food soooo good. I had the most amazing black cod. Oh, yum! Turned out to be a pricey dinner but I think we got what we paid for.

Saturday we had dinner with R's parent's. We went to the Banana Leaf which serves Malaysian food. It was soooo cheap (especially compared to Friday) and was really fantastic. I can't wait to go and try their other stuff.

Sunday was a quieter day. Went grocery shopping, did laundry, the normal stuff. In the afternoon we went to the mall and did a tiny bit of shopping (I finally have a pair of sandals!) and then caught a couple of the last Jazz fest perfomances. Watched Back to the Future III (watched the second one on Sat). R couldn't believe that I hadn't seen them. I, of course, have seen the first one (many times in fact) but never the other two. They really are great. Michael J. Fox and Chistopher Lloyd are really fantastic.

Well, I'll try not to make this much longer (can't believe it's this long already). In other news, I personally am doing a bit better. My depression has been a big problem lately (as some can attest to) but I think I know what's causeing it. But the last few days have been better. I'm pretty sure getting my job has helped my optimism at least a little. But things are that good yet. I still can't seem to get really happy and excited about things. Things are kind of dulled for me.

I thin it's time to be proactive abot this. I know what I have to do... it's just a matter of doing it.

Another one???????

Well, I didn't get short-listed for the first job that I was interviewed for. Oh, well. I'm disappointed but I'm getting over it. However, the second interview for the second job went quite well. Well enough that I was called in today to do a third interview! I met with the CFO of the company (who was quite nice) and we chatted for a few minutes and that was that. I should find out if I got the job tomorrow. They are supposed to the let the agency know around noon and I should find out when I get back from my lunch break.

I'm having lunch with a couple of my forum buddies... I forgot to mention before that on Friday we all met eachother for the first time. We had dinner at Steamworks... an awesome pub in Gastown. I had met one of them before for coffee so at least we knew we'd be comfortable with eachother. It ended up being an awesome evening and we all enjoyed eachother's company. Ryan came too and he enjoyed meeting them as well.

Anyway, I should go for the evening. Have to do a couple of things and then head to bed...afterall I am a working girl once again! ;)

Where have the days gone?

I can't believe that it's Canada Day this coming weekend! The days have just flown by... I'll have been in Vancouver 9 weeks officially on Wednesday. Weird. I think I'm really starting to settle in.

Last week I was temping at a great place downtown. Great company and great people. Very friendly and helpful. Made the week go very smoothly. Tomorrow I start temping at another place downtown until Tursday. Good to work again this week, especially the making money part.

Went on 2 interviews today. The one in the morning was proabaly the most amazing interview I've ever been on... the guy who interviewed me was super friendly, charismatic and very engaging. he put everything out on the table and was honest about everything. The best part was that he didn't ask the typicla questions everyone gets... we just talked about ourselves and the company. Very cool place to work. I really hope I get that one.

The second interview went well enough to get me a second interview(wow, does that make sense... I think so...) tomorrow during my lunch break. So we'll see.

I should hear about the first place tomorrow and the second wants to fill the position very quickly. I'm hoping I get to hear from the first place before the second... makes my life easier...

So besides the job stuff, things are okay...Claire was over this weekend. We had a great time. I enjoyed showing her around Vancouver. Had wonderful sushi at my favourite all you can eat place in the West End and then ventured out to Casa Gelato which has 208 flavours... sooooo yummy... we all had at least one flavour with alcohol in it... hmmmm.

I'm a little more hopeful today. which is better than I have been. My depression has been hitting really hard lately. I'm pretty sure it's realted to the pills I'm on. So I think it;s time to go to the doctor and try another brand. I really can't do this much longer and it's hard on the other people around me... I'm holding on and it helps that I've got the support of everyone who cares about me. (thanks)

Anyway, I suppose I should go start dinner. Till next time...(hopefully with great news on the job front).

Quick update...

Well, I'm excited... I get to work all next week. I'm temping at a place downtown for the entire week! Yes!!!! Pay is okay but so much better than nothing. I go in for a quick training session on Friday.

Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to the end of next week. Not only is Claire coming over for a visit but I've organized a get-together for the core group of people I'm friends with on the DV (discover vancouver) forum. Should be an exciting weekend all around!

Making money...

is the nicest feeling! I got to work today... went in as a temp and covered reception for an accounting firm. It was quiet and i only answered phones but they were really nice and I made myself some money! Wahoo!!!!!! I knew my consultant would come through for me.

So with any luck she might find more stuff for me. and maybe she'll hear back about the interview I did on Friday.

But for now I am just happy to have done something. and speaking of that... It's time for dinner... I am meeting Ryan and his colleagues at a an Irish pub in Kits for dinner. I'm sooooo hungry and very much in the mood for pub food.

Out with the old and in with the new...

Well, it's Friday and what a week! Actually it's been a really hard week. I've been going through a slight depression lately, and it's been fine but it's hit me a little harder this week.

Wednesday, I officially withdrew from co-op as I didn't get the job. It took them 2 feaking bloody weeks to tell me I didn't get it! Boy was my advisor pissed off when she found out they still hadn't called me.

Ahhhhhhhh! Bloody hell!

But there is good news out of all this. I went to an employment agency yesterday and was booked for an appointment with an employment consultant this morning. Went in and had the meeting which consisted of an interview and an assessment of my KSA's (knowledge, skills and abilities... learned that in school). So I did the tests and did quite well.

Things of all things, she ended up getting me an interview for this afternoon!!!!! So at 2pm, iIhad an interview for an admin assistant position. The are wanting to do second interviews so we'll see whether or not I get through to the next stage. If not, Barb will try and get me some temp work.
