The days of summer...

I am so enjoying summer. Still need a beach day, but I'll get there.

Spent the weekend in Victoria. It was so nice to jsut take it easy and not have to do anything. My Aunt came over to my paernt's place for dinner on Saturday. Earlier that day, Ryan, my Mom and I puttered around downtown and then when we got back, my Mom and I just hung out on the deck chatting. It was so good to spend time with her. I've missed my family. My day, of course was busy pedalling his butt off with the pedicab, but I got to see hime in the mornings.
Sunday, Ryan and I met up with Claire for coffee before we heading back to the mainland. All in all it was a lovely weekend and I cold have done with another day or two.

Work is going well. Think I've really got the hang of the job. Today was the monthly birthday tea where everyone in the office gathers for about 20-30 minutes for cake in honour of anyone who has a birthday that month. I ordered a dark choclate mousse cake that was sooooo good! Nothing like cake for lunch!

Tonight is going to be awesome too. It's the first night of the fireworks and my work is going on a dinner cruise. In fact, I'll be leaving in a hour. Really looking forward to hanging out with my co-workers outside of the office. They are a great bunch and I want to get to know them better.

This weekend will be nice too. Can't believe it's a long weekend again. But I'll take it! Ryan's parents are coming into town on Saturday so we'll see the fireworks from Sweden that night.

Anyway, time to get ready. I've got a boat to catch!!!!

Stupid people...

Notice that I didn't just say tourists (I know Claire, I'm a copycat). Today was entertaining to say the least...

Some angry man came into my building and went up to the British Consulate on the 8th Floor, where he dropped off a susipcious package. Turned out to be nothing to worry about but it did mean that all the people in the building (12 floors worth), including my office got to trek down the stairs and be evacuated! Yay!

Stupid freakin' idiot!

I can't believe some people these days. What nerve, expecially after the noon hour bombs in London today. In any case, the bomb squad was going to take a long time, so we just ended up going home.

So, I'm definitley looking forward to coming to Victoria tomorrow. It'll be nice to get away.

Okay, okay, I get the message...

I was meant to work here. How do I know this, you might ask? Well, because of 11:11. I've had this thing for many years now where whenever I would look at clock (in the AM or PM), it would be 11:11. I always felt that this number meant something very important but I nver knew what is was... until know. It's funny really, becauase I only clued into it last week.

I work at street # 1111 and my 4 month probation ends on November 11. Crazy, eh? But I'm not one to ignore the signs... I'll go with it!

So I guess I'm where I'm supposed to be. Which is a reassuring feeling.

Despite my depression, I've always known that my decision to move to Vancouver was the right one. And so far, that feeling hasn't let me down yet.

And I'm quite thrilled to report that my depression is finally over! I've felt true emotions again, especially joy. I know I'm okay now and that makes everything else that much easier. So I've been able to enjoy the little things again.

On Saturday, Sarah and I treked out to Richmond on multiple buses and went to Michael's. It was nice to spend time again with a fellow crafty person (I miss you Claire!).

Sunday was equally fun... Ryan and I bus-hopped our way to White Rock. Actually, it wasn't all that bad. We took the sky train into Surrey and then hopped a bus to White Rock. We discovered later that there was a direct bus between White Rock and Vancouver that ran once an hour on Sundays. It was quite nice to go home on an air conditioned coach bus with comfy seats.

White Rock was nice. Got some sun (a little more than I wanted by accident), wandered the shops and just enjoyed a beautiful summer day. Got pictures and I'll post when I develop that roll (I know, I know... one of these days, I join the digital age...).

Anyway, it was a wonderful weekend and I'm already looking forward to this coming weekend. Ryan and I are going to Victoria for a visit. Not dure what kind of time we'll have for visiting (it looks like Sunday is really the only day), but let me know and I'll do my best.

Regatta Photos..

So certain people have been bugging me to post photos from the Corporate Rowing Challenge that took place in the beginning of June in Victoria.. where a certain friend of mine (Dave!!!) helped his team win it for the second year in a row. I recall we celebrated with a pitcher of sangria that night. Very good sangria and also quite strong... Congratulation dave and the Butchart Gardens team!!!

I had to get down on my knees and lean over quite far to get this one... Posted by Picasa

Boy, do I have good news...

that is shaking away my depression...

Yesterday, after only 4 days, I was received an offer of peremanent employment...

Which I accepted!!!!!!! Were talking the full-meal-deal here. Benefits (health and welfare, dental), vacation and annual compensation reviews. I am SOOOOO happy.

So I guess, that with a "real" job, I am officially a part of the adult world. Weird...

In true Lindsay style...

I missed my alarm and was almost late for my first day of work! I had set my alarm for 6:30, which I checked twice before going to sleep. Meanwhile...

I went to bed with a headache that I couldn't seem to get rid of. Then I spent a restless night fighting to keep some of the sheets for myself. I woke up at like 5:30 or something and I had no sheet and only a small bit of the blanket covering me. I wasn't the only one having a restless night. Suffice to say that I never heard my alarm go off, but apparently Ryan said he vaguely heard it go off and that I turned it off (it was indeed switched off when I checked later). I woke up at 7:00 when Ryan's alarm went off! I freaked out, cursed and hurried to get ready for work... I had to be out of the house by 7:20 to make it to work on time. I felt rushed, tired and gross because I didn't have time for a shower. To top it off, I still had a headache. Well, at least I didn't smell...

Got to work after stopping for coffee and a muffin (my breakfast becuase I didn't have time for that either) and had the normal tour and introductions. Work was actually pretty good despite a rough start. It was quiet in the morning so I had a chance to get a feel for things. The afternoon was busier (especially the last hour and a half) because I got behind on a couple of things. Mostly it was becuase I'm just learning their procedures and also where the heck everything is stored. But it was a good day. Felt tired when I got home and I still have that headache but I think I know how to get rid of it... might have to bring out the superstrong essential oil blend I have for migraines.

As for the weekend, we had a good time on Canada Day. R and I went to Granville Island to take in the free Jazz festival shows going on there. WE saw some really great stuff and enjoyed ourselves. We then went for dinner at this really great restaurant on Granville Is. called the Sandbar. The service was exceptional and the food soooo good. I had the most amazing black cod. Oh, yum! Turned out to be a pricey dinner but I think we got what we paid for.

Saturday we had dinner with R's parent's. We went to the Banana Leaf which serves Malaysian food. It was soooo cheap (especially compared to Friday) and was really fantastic. I can't wait to go and try their other stuff.

Sunday was a quieter day. Went grocery shopping, did laundry, the normal stuff. In the afternoon we went to the mall and did a tiny bit of shopping (I finally have a pair of sandals!) and then caught a couple of the last Jazz fest perfomances. Watched Back to the Future III (watched the second one on Sat). R couldn't believe that I hadn't seen them. I, of course, have seen the first one (many times in fact) but never the other two. They really are great. Michael J. Fox and Chistopher Lloyd are really fantastic.

Well, I'll try not to make this much longer (can't believe it's this long already). In other news, I personally am doing a bit better. My depression has been a big problem lately (as some can attest to) but I think I know what's causeing it. But the last few days have been better. I'm pretty sure getting my job has helped my optimism at least a little. But things are that good yet. I still can't seem to get really happy and excited about things. Things are kind of dulled for me.

I thin it's time to be proactive abot this. I know what I have to do... it's just a matter of doing it.
